My brother and his bride recently welcomed their first child into the world. Brielle is a super sweet girl that has a wonderful disposition. We got to go and visit them in Amarillo a month after Brielle was born and had a great visit. My daughters love meeting new babies and it was nice to hold a little one again!
The new parents are doing such a great job with Brielle. They are very laid back and chill, which is a very good quality for new parents:) So far they are doing a great job. You guys keep up the good work with that sweetheart!
Greg and Sara waited until I came to town to do Brielle’s first photos and I am very honored that they wanted me to do the photos. Here are some of the highlights!
We are all very blessed that Brielle is in our family and I promise to be the best Uncle I can be!
Facebook is a pretty amazing thing. I was in Wisconsin last week and sent out a message to all of my friends and everyone who ‘likes’ my photography page saying that anyone in Wisconsin who was interested could get a free photography session. My message was answered by none other than Kirk and Stephanie Spencer. Kirk used to work with my wife back in the day and we hung out as a group fairly often I was really glad to get a chance to see them again.
Last time I saw them, they had one child who was just a few months old. Now Cameron is 3 (and a half, according to him) and they have a second son named Alex. We met at Grant Park in South Milwaukee in the evening. Unfortunately it was the hottest and most humid night of the whole week and there had been torrential rainfall the week before that washed out several bridges that the park is know for. We made the best of it and had a really nice visit/photo session.
Also, I have to say that Cameron is one of the most charming and outgoing 3 year olds I have ever had the joy to meet. The minute he jumped out of the car he was talking to me and we got to be pretty good friends throughout the evening. He was also a pleasure to photography and was an excellent model. That’s a good kid you have there, Spencer family. Anyway, here are some of the highlights:
Thank you so much to the Spencer family for hanging out with me last week. I had a great time! You guys have created a wonderful family and I wish you all of the best!
Last weekend I got to go up to Littleton, CO and do one of the most involved photo shoots to date. It was an extended family with 4 generations, several different looks and just about every composition imaginable. Luckily the weather and the kids were all pretty reasonable and we got some of the best family portraits that I have taken.
Of course it helps that these are all friends and we were pretty much able to hang out at a great park for a few hours! Here are some of the highlights:
Thanks for bringing me up you guys! I had a great time.
I had the pleasure of going and visiting the Baltz and Bishop family and take some photos of the group, including their newest member, Briar. We were only there for about an hour, but it was a nice visit and also fairly exciting. We heard sirens getting closer and closer until a fire truck, ambulance and several police cars pulled up across the street. Not sure what all happened, but we certainly wish the best to those folks.
We really had a great visit. Thanks for the invite!
Thanks again! To see all of the photos and download/buy prints, go here:
From May 12th through May 15th, the Wisconsin Credit Union League held their 76th Annual Convention and Exposition. It was held in beautiful Green Bay, WI (more on Green Bay later) and was pretty awesome. Some of the coolest people show up for our events and luckily I often get to mingle with them. We also have some fairly rocking social gatherings at convention (as far as corporate events go).
On Thursday night we had an open mic/karaoke jam, which you would think would be lame but was pretty awesome thanks to the outgoing people that showed up. If kicked off with the Disclosures (see previous post) followed by some great karaoke (I, of course, visited the stage several times).
One of the my personal highlights was ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ organized by one Brent Dixon. The entire group rocked it out! I also got one of my favorite photos ever. Nothing like capturing 1/10th of the second of pure joy!
The Disclosures is a duo out of Madison, Wisconsin. They are so awesome that they have created a whole new genre – Thrift Rock. The band is Chad Helminak and Christopher Morris, who are both hard-core credit union guys. They spend their days espousing the virtue of cooperative financial institutions and their nights melting faces with their fiscally sound rock!
You can find out more about the Disclosures at one of their many online outlets:
A few weeks ago they rocked the KI Center in Green Bay, WI (Ballroom A1-4 to be more specific) during the Wisconsin Credit Union League’s Annual Convention and Exhibition! I was on hand for the festivities and was able to capture the magic.
Last weekend I had the honor of doing an in-home portrait session for some family friends that just had their 3rd child. I had a great time with a wonderful family. Here are some of the highlights!
I really can’t believe it, but my little Jenna is 2 today. I can’t believe how fast that little monkey has grown. I am so blessed to have her as my daughter, even though she does love to whine loudly these days. She is certainly no longer a baby which is great and kinda sad for me and her mom.
As for Jenna’s 2-year photo session, we didn’t really know what to expect. For her 18 month session, Jenna was an absolute monster/devil. She wouldn’t stop moving and she certainly wouldn’t cooperate. For this session I got all of the gear ready while Katie played stylist. We put Jenna in front of the camera and the little model in her turned on. We burned through the first look in minutes. It was an extremely pleasant surprise! What I expected was going to be hours of torture turned out to be a fun and pretty hilarious time. Some of the poses she did on her own cracked me up!
I was in Madison, WI to photograph a wedding in the middle of September (see previous posts). Luckily I had plenty of time on Friday night and Saturday morning to rekindle my love for the city, specifically downtown. The capitol square and State Street is one of my favorite places to be on earth. Add to that equation September on a Saturday morning and you have a perfect day.
Saturday in the summer and fall in Madison means the farmer’s market. Vendors from all over the region set up tents all around the square to sell fresh produce, crafts and other items. There are also plenty of street performers and people watching opportunities. What we were always more interested in, though, was the Stella’s Bakery tent. Spicy cheese bread, cinnamon rolls, danish, impanatas…
Back to what I was talking about! I had the entire morning free to wander around and take it in. I did a personal photo walk and here are some of my favorite shots!
Long story short, I’m very glad that both my day job and my weekend job lead me back to Madison regularly.
Breayna and Sean Cotter were wedded on Saturday, September 19th in downtown Madison, Wisconsin. The ceremony and reception was held at the Orpheum Theater on State Street. The Orpheum is a historic and beautiful vaudeville era theater and Madison landmark. Bre and Sean used this lovely backdrop to create one of the classiest and most stylish weddings I have seen. Everything from the procession down the lobby staircase to the delicious food in the glow of the silver screen to the perfect flowers created an environment that recalled glamourous Hollywood.
Greater than all that, though, was the bride, her groom, the bridal party and family. They could have all been transported directly to an Oscars after party in the ’40s and looked completely at home. Everyone looked fantastic, but the crown jewel was Breayna. She was an absolute knockout in her gown with period brooch, clutch and veil. Photos couldn’t really do her justice!
I again want to thank Bre and Sean for making me a part of their wonderful day. Here is a sneak peek at some photos from Saturday.
